Hi, I'm

Franco

Tanzarella

From then to now and beyond!

My web and print work.

I need to design something.

So, who am I?

Born and raised in a small town, things like the internet, websites and digital design was something I didn’t even knew existed. Clay and oil paint was the only mediums I could safely work with. That was until I moved to the city and spent the last of my teenage years totally consumed by this new, ever changing realm called the world wide web. It wasn’t long before I started toying with the idea to build my own websites.

I played around with HTML for a while but it was only in 2007 that I really sat down and decided that this is what I was going to do for the rest of my life and I haven’t looked back since. I am now a self taught and skilled web designer. My skills range from designing to building beautiful websites that are compatible in all major browsers using anything from hand coded standards compliant XHTML

and CSS to content management systems, such as Drupal, Joomla and Wordpress. I am always learning the latest methods and tricks, not only to stay ahead but because I love it. Web design is my ultimate passion and I strive to prove that through my work and the satisfied looks on my clients’ faces after I hand them the final product.

My work. My passion.

Olaf Bisschoff

Website of artist Olaf Bisschoff

The Brief
The brief for this website was simple. The client wanted a no frills clean and dark website. Because he is an artist himself he already had an idea of what he wanted, so I sat down with his concept and my ideas and polished it to perfection.

Built with
This website was put together with Drupal, a custom built template and navigation using Flash. This allowed the client to do regular updates himself. I also supplied the training and a full colour manual.

Casa Mercia

Website for Casa Mercia holiday home

The Brief
My client needed a fun website to help with the renting of their holiday home in Mozambique. I created the website with light blues and whites and contrasting oranges to give a playful tropical feel to the site. Because of budget constraints, we opted for a one page website broken up into different sections.

Built With
This site was built with standards compliant XHTML and CSS with a bit of Jquery here and there to give the website more life. The contact forms and booking system are all PHP driven.

Uys & White Landscape Architects

Website for Uys and White landscape architects

The Brief
The client had an existing identity, logo and company colours I could work with. They wanted the site to be more of a portfolio than an actual company website with loads of information so I kept the layout simple and uncluttered and placed emphasis on the images by using the images as a navigation tool.

Built With
This website was built on the Drupal platform with a custom template built and designed by me. I used XHTML, CSS and some Jquery where it was needed.

Sinergia

Website for Sinergia hospitality services

The Brief
I had no brief with this site. I know the person I built this for very well and she gave me free reign to do what I want and because of that I could make this site the way that I knew she would like it...and she loves it.

Built With
This site was designed and built by me. It started with XHTML, CSS and some PHP for the contact form but I then added a Wordpress blog and transferred the entire site to a Wordpress template.

Poster design

poster design

The Brief
I was asked to create a promotional poster for a live show at a club in Pretoria by a DGB representative. Seeing as it was a Metal club it made sense to keep the design dark and grungy.

Tools used
For this project I used Photoshop because I knew the poster will not be printed anything larger that A2.
